Dresses are usually made from one of four different top styles, combined with one of five different skirt styles. On this page you will find examples of the different top and skirt styles, as well as links to more examples and detailed pictures.

Skirts are categorized by complexity, a style E skirt takes the most time to put together.

Skirt Style A

Solid print cotton calico or muslin. Apron petticoats are this style unless otherwise noted.

Skirt Style B
SB_01.jpg (7191 bytes)

Strip style. Vertical strips of cotton calico and/or corduroy.

Skirt Style C
SC_01.jpg (6366 bytes)

Diagonal Patchwork. Even-sized squares of fabric arrainged on the bias around the skirt.

Skirt Style D

Random Patchwork. Even-sizes squares of fabric arrainged randomly, usually without any two of the same touching!

Skirt Style E

Asymetrical Patchwork. Traditional patchwork, with different shapes and sizes all pieced together.
